1.1 Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using SIMO ("Step Into My Office," the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. You represent that you are at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. The Platform is currently offered only to users located in the United States.
1.2 Nature of the Platform
SIMO is a neutral technology platform that facilitates connections between independent users — those seeking guidance ("Mentees") and those offering paid mentorship or consulting ("Mentors"). SIMO is a venue only.
SIMO does not: employ Mentors; supervise, direct, or control interactions or the guidance given; guarantee any result or outcome; act as an educational institution, admissions consultant, recruiter, or agent of any school, program, or employer; or act as a financial institution. All interactions and agreements occur solely between users.
No vetting; meaning of "verified." SIMO does not review, interview, screen, or background-check Mentors, and does not confirm any Mentor's role, title, enrollment, employment, license, or qualifications. A "verified" label means only that the user submitted identity (ID) and bank/payment information for payment-processing purposes. It is NOT a verification of, or any representation about, the person's actual role, position, credentials, or the accuracy of anything they say. Users participate, connect, and book at their own risk.
Matching: SIMO may suggest matches between Mentees and Mentors based on information users provide. Matching is algorithmic and informational only. SIMO does not guarantee that any match is suitable, accurate, or the best available, and is not liable for the quality or outcome of any match. Users choose whom to connect and book with at their own discretion and risk. This does not limit the Revenue, Payout & Refund Policy.
1.3 No Professional Advice; No Guaranteed Outcomes
SIMO does not provide medical, legal, financial, investment, admissions, or other professional advice. All guidance is the personal opinion of independent users and is general information only. You are solely responsible for your own decisions.
SIMO makes no representation or guarantee that use of the Platform or any mentorship will result in admission to any school or program, any job, license, or any other outcome. Such decisions are made solely by third parties SIMO does not control.
1.4 Mentor Obligations
If you act as a Mentor, you represent, warrant, and agree on an ongoing basis that:
- You are an independent contractor, not an employee or agent of SIMO, and are solely responsible for your own taxes and compliance.
- All credentials, affiliations, and enrollment or employment status you state are true and current, and you will update them promptly if they change.
- You are PERMITTED to provide mentorship and are not prohibited from doing so by any school, employer, program policy, code of conduct, professional/ethical rule, or agreement to which you are subject.
- You will NOT solicit or share confidential, proprietary, protected, or non-public information, including confidential admissions criteria, internal scoring or rubrics, exam or interview content, applicant or patient data, or anything you are obligated to keep confidential.
- You will not claim or promise the ability to influence any admissions, hiring, or selection decision.
- You are solely responsible for the lawfulness and accuracy of your guidance.
1.5 User Conduct
You agree not to: misrepresent your identity or credentials; harass, threaten, or abuse others; engage in unlawful or fraudulent activity; circumvent the Platform's payment systems for relationships originated on SIMO; or record any session without the consent of all participants where required by applicable law. SIMO does not record sessions; any device-side recording by a user is that user's sole legal responsibility, including compliance with all-party-consent laws.
SIMO may suspend or terminate accounts at its discretion to protect the Platform or its users.
1.6 Payments
Payments and Mentor payouts are processed through third-party providers (Stripe / Stripe Connect). SIMO does not store full payment-card or bank-account numbers. SIMO charges a platform fee disclosed before purchase. Refunds, cancellations, and payouts are governed by the Revenue, Payout & Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in suspension. SIMO is not responsible for errors by third-party payment processors.
1.7 Assumption of Risk
You understand that interacting with other users — through messaging, phone or video sessions, any in-person meeting, and financial transactions — involves inherent risks arising from the conduct of independent third parties, which may include misrepresentation, fraud, financial loss, or impact on your career or applications. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you knowingly assume the risks arising from the acts or omissions of other users.
1.8 Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SIMO DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR QUALITY OF ANY USER GUIDANCE.
1.9 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIMO AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. SIMO'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE TOTAL FEES SIMO RETAINED FROM YOUR TRANSACTIONS IN THE PRIOR TWELVE (12) MONTHS, OR (b) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
1.10 Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SIMO and its owners, officers, employees, affiliates, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your conduct, your guidance, your interactions, your violation of law, or your violation of these Terms.
1.11 Dispute Resolution; Arbitration & Class Waiver
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be resolved exclusively through binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, seated in Florida. You waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in any class or representative action. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
1.12 Force Majeure
SIMO shall not be liable for any failure or delay due to events beyond its reasonable control, including cyberattacks, third-party outages, natural disasters, or government action.
1.13 Severability
If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the unenforceable provision shall be limited or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
1.14 Changes to Terms
SIMO may update these Terms. We will post the revised version with a new Effective Date and provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
1.15 Electronic Consent
By clicking "I Agree" or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, and that your electronic acceptance forms a legally binding agreement.
